Washington Mutual a Class Act
Washington Mutual cares deeply about education and does more
than just give politically-correct lip-services to the concept
of helping and encouraging the youth of our country. Class
Act is one of several educational programs sponsored by Washington
Mutual. Many Washington Mutual employees volunteer for the
Class Act program, which was established to help grades K-12.
Through the Class Act program, employees of Washington Mutual
organize and help run a wide range of programs at individual
schools across the nation. Projects can include such things
as fixing up school grounds, helping teachers in the classroom,
conducting community outreach programs to help get needed
supplies to the school and many more.
Each year Washington Mutual donates millions of dollars in
outright cash grants to help fund professional development
of teachers, for leadership training for school principals,
as well as money for reorganizing outdated school curricula
and for helping to involve parents in the schools.
Washington Mutual is a proud partner with the National Board
for Professional Teaching Standards which helps teachers reach
and maintain the highest possible degree of professionalism
and skill. Washington Mutual provides scholarships and other
support for teachers who are pursing professional certification.
Washington Mutual is always looking to the future, and they
also support programs designed to attract new talent to the
classroom and for keeping current teachers motivated.
Washington Mutual is sincere in its desire to motivate and
encourage students. Toward that end, Washington Mutual sponsors
a High School Intern Program (HIP). High school juniors and
seniors are invited to get hands-on experience working at
Washington Mutual. They not only learn fundamental job skills,
but they may also earn academic credits while working. At
the conclusion of their internship program, many of these
students are eligible for jobs at Washington Mutual if they
choose. |
